Day 1: Depart Chicago to your flights to Havana, Cuba. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our English speaking guides who will assist you and transfer to the National Hotel. After you have been ample time to rest you will be given a brief orientation.
Day 2: After breakfast, you will be taken on a tour of Old Havana with stops at local places of interest including the African House. Lunch will be at one of the fine restaurants near Morro Castle so you may have a view of the ocean where the ships come in. There will be independent touring that afternoon.
Day 3: After breakfast this morning you will be taken to Hamel Alley to mingle with local and view the fantastic works of art. This afternoon you want to visit one of the markets to purchase some cigars, rum, and other things.
Day 4: This morning you will depart Havana for travel by land to Santiago de Cuba. See the beautiful Cuba that you may have heard of. Breakfast and lunch included
Day 5- Relax in the beautiful Melia Hotel and its beautiful gardens. Go swimming and perhaps visit the bar and lounge and be given Salsa lessons This evening dinner will be on your own.
Day 6: After breakfast, you will be taken on a tour of the city. Lunch and Dinner on your own.
Day 7: Breakfast, then the International Afro American Conference (you may want to present a paper). Enjoy a night out in Santiago de Cuba – the country’s predominate Black city is always offering great entertainment.
Day 8: Breakfast and independent touring
Day 9: Today you will return to Havana where you will stay overnight.
Day 10: Depart for the airport and your home.
